I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Angels & Arrows was a different type of paranormal romance. Maria has to overcome many challenges in her life and learn to accept herself and learn to trust others. There is a bit of horror, a lot of romance , some sadness and some joy in this story. It will make you think about your own faith and beliefs . Truly an enjoyable read. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Angels and paranormal romance.
Let me begin by saying the moment you start reading this story the author draws you into a tumultuous and frightening experience. To find out some of this paranormal tale is true, strikes at the core of fear. It is an unfortunate life to live to be sure. It's heartfelt to know when people come together, they can overcome.

The book is written in first person, but because of the paranormal element, the story shows more than just the main character's POV. A shared consciousness is paramount throughout.
First off let me say paranormal romance usually is not my thing. Now that being said I really enjoyed [Reyna Hawk's] [Angels & Arrows] because it was not a typical paranormal romance. Yes that was part of it but there was cultural history and excitement as well. None of the "Oh woe is me my vampire boyfriend left me I am going to curl up and die." Maria is a fighter. A bit of a pessimist but really a fighter. It takes a bit for her to learn to trust and have faith but when she does evil spirits better watch out.
Let me begin by saying I don't usually read paranormal romance fiction, but a friend suggested this book to me. The story reaches limits in both terror and passion. I would not want to read it before bedtime or you might have some crazy nightmares. I had to read it with a light on and in familiar surroundings. That is perhaps the best part of the story; the characters and events pull you in. There are some truly horrible images, but I won't spoil your time reading them. It reminded me of movies where inhuman creatures ravage people without mercy, usually through the miracle of Hollywood makeup artists or high tech special effects. Edgar Allan Poe never penned anything this terrifying.

But what makes a good story a very good one is that it is based on true events, only a small fraction of it is really fiction. Once you realize this, you will replay the events in your head and give thanks this didn't happen to you. I recommend reading this book with someone you love, safely locked away at home, with periodic breaks for comfort food. In other words, if you like to be scared, this book is for you. You have been warned.

I absolutely loved this book. I wish I could meet the author because I want to know so much more about her experiences. I was completely intrigued from page one. This is a fast paced and very interesting book, made better because we know it is based on true facts. I will admit there were times when I wanted to scream at Maria, “pay attention” or “ don’t blow that off like it is nothing”. But talk about creepy and interesting all at once.

This story takes you through several years of Maria’s life and then adds her new friend Allie. They go forth on a journey that would make most people curl up in a ball and just give up. But these two women are strong and have a will to live a happy life to its fullest.
There are twists and turns, there is joy and sadness! At times it was frustrating and I just wanted to jump in and help them. But in the end good always wins over evil…doesn’t it?
