I really enjoyed this book. The Santa Fe woman was a spoiled brat. Her father lost all his m0ney and property except for $10,000 and suddenly she had to be poor like the rest of us. So the father used his leftover money and purchased wagons, mulesand supplies to transport merchandise to be sold for a big profit in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They hired Chad a recent jailbird to be their trail boss and he did an excellent job. Of course he and the santa fe woman fell in love and all ended well. Read this book, you will love it.

Okay, needless to say, I loved this book, and going on to another of Gilbert Morris ' s books.
I stayed awake reading his book until 230am finishing this book, just because I couldn't put it down and go to sleep!
Book was a good easy read but there were a few things that weren't believable; first the reference to zombies....really did they even "know" about zombies back then? And brain surgery recovery was a little quick...but I guess if you chalk that up to another miracle it's believable.
Gilbert Morris never ceases to deliver. You always know it is going to be a good read with this writer. That is rare, even among the old classics authors. This story has all the right components for success -- execellent delivery, plot, character development, settings, and variety. One of those novels you cannot stand to put down.
Gilbert Morris can be depended on for an exciting, interesting, clean book. In addition, I normally learn a lot on historical data, which was the case with this novel. I would not hesitate to recommend it to any reader, particularly a Christian reader who does not enjoy the lurid language and situations portrayed in so much fiction today.
I enjoy reading a clean fun story that I can escape in for a little while. Mail order brides have intrigued me because of the unknown about what these young woman were walking into and the faith that they had in God to provide a love worth the risk. This was a good book and I enjoyed reading it. The story line left me wanting to read more by this author.
I loved this book! It's well written and showing the grace of God. It was heartfelt and exciting. Lot's of action! Sad how so many people go to church, only to be seen and never truly believe on Jesus Christ. How could that be?
Everyday people as they thought & lived. How refreshing a writer that tells it as it was. Imperfect people trying hard to make a life worth living. I am I guess an old person nearly 80 years of age. Married 59 years to the same man. Still madly in love with him. Hearing my grandmother tell of the crash of '29 and the loss of everything. Leaving W Virginia with all they had in a model T; mom, dad, four kids and their quilts. Telling me of tales from her on grandmothers life. Made this story so real to me. When things get really tough the strong get stronger and the weak get defeated and the mean get meaner and more wicked than ever. I am so happy to have found Mr. Gilbert because he has written enough books that I will probably not get to read them all before leaving this life for the next.
